Octagón Jr. has thanked fans and staff for their support after suffering an injury at AAA Noche de los Grandes.

The AAA wrestler posted a photo to Instagram showing himself in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace, after being injured during a five-way match taped on May 30 in Monterrey, Mexico.

According to fans in attendance, Octagón Jr. took a DDT from Joaquin Wilde from the top rope during the match, with the referee throwing up the “X” signal. He was then helped from the ring, placed on a stretcher and taken to the back.

The match aired as part of AAA Noche de los Grandes Night 2 on June 6, with the injury not shown on the broadcast. Lince Dorado won the match, which also included Mini Vikingo and Cruz Del Toro, to become the number one contender to the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.

In his post, Octagón Jr. thanked WWE, AAA, fans, friends, wrestlers and staff members who had supported him.

He also offered special thanks to Dr. Orozco and his team, saying they had cared for him throughout the day and night and treated him “as if I were his son,” according to Instagram’s translation.

Octagón Jr. added that he felt blessed by the support of his family and wife, who he said immediately flew to be with him after seeing “that this was very bad.”

He closed the message by writing, “Thank you God for this opportunity, I will come back stronger than ever.”
