Pro wrestling companies have dealt with visa issues in the United States during the Trump administration, and WWE reportedly is the latest promotion to face them.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, WWE is facing “significant” visa issues. It is not known how this will affect WWE in the coming months, with many overseas events scheduled, including Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on March 6 that WWE was looking to sign more AAA talent and secure U.S. work visas.
Other promotions recently have dealt with visa problems, too. Ian Riccaboni noted on the ROH Supercard of Honor Zero Hour that Komander and The Beast Mortos were unable to be at the show due to visa issues. It was also noted that Tony Khan was looking at Sammy Guevara and Mortos defending the ROH tag team titles in Mexico, which they did last Friday against El Hijo del Villano and Villano III Jr. in Arena Mexico.
TNA also dealt with missing talent due to visa issues earlier this year, according to Fightful.
During WrestleMania weekend, Maki Itoh, Yuria Hime, and Fuwa-chan were forced off a Stardom card due to what was described as an “unusually long visa process.”
The visa issues are also happening as Stardom wrestlers were announced for excursions, and with Forbidden Door scheduled on June 28, which is expected to include talent from NJPW, Stardom, and CMLL.
