WWE Raw 7/27 Results: Raquel Rodriguez wins Women’s Intercontinental Title, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins face off on SummerSlam go-home show

A Hell in a Cell cage is hanging above the ring, with Triple H and Adam Pearce waiting for Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, who both are making their way toward the ring. After making his entrance, Oba stepped onto the scale and weighed in at 302 pounds, according to Pearce. Lesnar didn’t enter the ring, and instead, he locked up the cage and held up the key, taunting Oba. Paul Heyman cut a promo, putting over Lesnar, but there were a lot of technical difficulties, so it was tough to make out all of what Heyman said. He called Lesnar the single most violent and most successful athlete in combat sports history. He claimed Lesnar was the best non-PG ass-kicker in the history of WWE, and Heyman noted that Lesnar is undefeated in Hell in a Cell matches, which makes Oba Femi an underdog.

“This wannabe ruler thinks he’ll snap Lesnar’s streak.” Heyman noted that Oba might be the “most dominant bastard to walk into WWE in the last 24 years,” but he can’t beat Lesnar in Hell in a Cell. He claimed that Lesnar weighed in at the back and came out at 303 pounds. Oba told Brock to come into the cage, but Lesnar said, “I’ll see you at SummerSlam, bitch.” Oba told Lesnar to keep running like he always does, but he’s coming Saturday and reminded Lesnar that he won’t be locked in with him; Lesnar will be locked in with him. Oba then beat up the police escort that he came out with.

We got Chapter IV in the Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins saga titled “Surprise,” which recapped their match at Royal Rumble 2022. The Bloodline then arrived in the arena.

Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa & Otis) vs. The Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker)

The Vision dominated Tozawa for the first five minutes of the match. Tozawa found an opening after Bron missed a spear and ran into the corner. Otis got the hot tag and bulldozed The Vision, capping it off with a double splash. Otis fired up, ripping his shirt off. He landed the caterpillar splash, and Tozawa nailed a suicide dive. Logan Paul distracted Tozawa, and Theory got his knees up on a Tozawa senton. Breakker tossed Otis into the ring post, and The Vision won with Double Vision after Breakker ran the ropes multiple times.

The Vision continued their assault on Tozawa after the match until Otis came in for the save. Otis went for a splash, but he seemed to pick out the wrong corner and dragged Theory into a corner where Maxxine Dupri could distract him. The Vision knocked him down with a double powerbomb, followed up by Double Vision. After the match, Otis was nailed with a chair shot to the head while in the corner; it was made to look that way, at least.

Jackie Redmond was backstage with LA Knight, who talked about his commute to the arena. Knight talked about how others talked about how he’s paranoid, but he pointed out that everything he said would happen has happened. The goal at SummerSlam is to put The Bloodline in a hole. When he hits the BFT on them, it will be a fact of life because he’s LA Knight.

There was an awkwardly framed video where Raquel Rodriguez and Sol Ruca cut promos on each other ahead of their match later in the night, but they weren’t in the same room and were still facing each other like they were.

A Chad Gable vignette played, chronicling his journey from heel to now. He said he was set free after making amends and understanding why he’s after championships, and he talked about the kind of person he is when he returns to Minnesota.

An Iyo Sky promo video played, where Iyo said that she proved Liv Morgan wrong when she won Queen of the Ring. She told Liv that she isn’t the greatest world champion of all time. She’s shared locker rooms with many great women, and she doesn’t come close to them. She said she proved Liv wrong before, and she’ll do it again at SummerSlam.

Je’Von Evans vs. Rusev

Rusev barely got an entrance, but he was dominant to start, with Evans getting some openings using his high-flying ability. Rusev continued to dominate Evans during the picture-in-picture break, and Evans tried to fire himself up, but Rusev knocked him down with two big right hands. Evans continued to fight back and started to build a rally with multiple strikes. Evans landed Red Dot, and Rusev rolled outside. Rusev took some time to tend to his eye, but Evans hit a big splash. Back in the ring, Rusev caught Evans with a Machka Kick. Evans fought out of an Accolade attempt and hit the Busaiku Knee. Rusev blocked the OG Cutter and locked in the Accolade. Evans managed to force a rope break, as the crowd started to get into the match. Rusev screamed at Evans to get up, but Evans Matrix ducked a Machka Kick and kipped back up into a Stunner. He hit the OG Cutter for the win.

The next chapter in the Reigns-Rollins saga took us to WrestleMania XL.

Hendryhausen concert

Joe Hendry and Danhausen have the spotlight on them in the ring, as they sing about the Judegment Day. Hendry has his guitars, and Danhausen “plays” a piano organ. They then do a dance routine and sing, “I believe that you are cursed,” with the MiniHausens in the ring. The LA Clippers dancers came out and did a dance routine. Ryan Garcia joined them, and no one in this crowd could care less. Garcia then gave Hendry a guitar shot, which woke the crowd up. Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh attacked Danhausen and the MiniHausens in the ring. Garcia and the Judgement Day stood tall to lukewarm responses.

A Penta promo video played, where Penta said he was happy that Chad has found his way, and he accepted Chad’s apology, but that doesn’t change the past. At SummerSlam, he won’t be fighting for revenge, but for his legacy and everyone cheering for him.

We got another Big Cass teaser about proving everyone wrong after reaching rock bottom. He’s still advertised for Aug. 3, but there’s no sign of Enzo joining him.

Rey Mysterio vs. Ethan Page

Page also got his entrance skipped, and Rey got off to a fast-paced start. Page slowed things down, focusing on Rey’s previous rib injury that he caused. Rey tried to dump Page outside, but Page kept Rey on his shoulders and powerbombed him on the apron to head into an ad break. Back from break, both men are on the top rope, with Page trying to take Rey’s mask off. Rey knocked him down and landed a moonsault. Page was in the 619 position, but he baited Rey in for a big boot. Rey fought off Page in the corner and catapulted him into the corner turnbuckle. Rey threw a series of right hands and sent Page into the corner with a hurricanrana. Rey hit a senton, but on the follow-up, Page caught Rey and hit a powerslam. Rey caught Page with a DDT, but while making his way up top, Page caught him with a boot. Page looked for a superplex, but Rey gave him a headbutt to send him outside, and he hurricanrana’d him into the announce desk. Rey got Page in the 619 position, but Page lifted the ring skirt to block it. Page hit the EgoPlex for the win.

A Liv Morgan promo video played. She told Iyo that she doesn’t understand who she’s facing. She noted that she is someone who has been overlooked and someone who scratched and clawed her way to the top. She noted that she would do anything to stay there and doesn’t care about what others think. All she cares about is her championship, and now, she cares about Iyo. Liv praised Iyo as one of the best in the world, but she is wrong about her. She claimed Iyo was not in her head, and she is not scared of the thought of losing to her at SummerSlam. It will be another chance to remind others who she is: The greatest women’s champion of all time.

Danhausen is backstage, with a doctor looking over the MiniHausens. Pearce came in and told Danhausen to give Dom his money back. Danhausen suggested a “human monies on a pole” match. Pearce agreed as long as he gets stuff like this off his show and went off for a drink.

After Jey Uso ran it back, he gave a warning shot to Solo Sikoa, LA Knight and Royce Keys ahead of SummerSlam. Solo emerged in the crowd, mocking The Usos. He told them that he didn’t start anything and that things escalated when they went back to Roman. He said that he didn’t see The Bloodline because The Bloodline was when he was in it. Jimmy told Solo to stop joking around and that The Bloodline was the best thing to happen to him and to “run the play” or else. Solo mockingly asked if The Usos would yeet at him or bore him for 30 minutes and that Roman could kiss his ass. LA Knight came out, gave his usual promo and then came into the ring to start a brawl. Jacob Fatu came in for the save, but Royce came to even the odds, and the Knight, Solo and Royce team hit their finishers on Jacob to stand tall.

A promo where the Hell in the Cell was personified and talked played to preview the danger of the match and the Oba versus Brock match.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title: Sol Ruca vs. Raquel Rodriguez

You can add Rodriguez to the list of wrestlers who got their entrance partially skipped, but Rodriguez used her power to hold Sol down, as Lyra Valkyria watched the match backstage. Sol recovered and caught Raquel with a hurricanrana, followed up by a thrust kick to send her outside. She hit a top-rope moonsault, which might have busted Raquel’s nose open. Raquel still powered through and got a nearfall after a powerslam. Raquel maintained control, as the crowd mostly sat on their hands. They popped when referee Jessika Carr wiped blood off Raquel’s face. Sol gained momentum with Sliced Bread and a running knee for a nearfall. Sol went for a springboard crossbody, but Raquel caught her. Sol hung on the ropes to escape, and she caught Raquel with a twirling DDT. Roxanne Perez ran into the ring. Sol took her out, and Carr tried to roll her out. That allowed a distraction from Liv, and Raquel caught her with a boot for a two-count. Iyo then ran out, and Liv intercepted her. Iyo then drove Liv into the ring post. Raquel picked up Iyo into the ring. Sol caught Raquel with a Code Breaker. Iyo hit the Bullet Train Knee onto Liv while her head was in the corner. Sol tried to go for the Sol Snatcher, but Roxanne pulled Sol’s arm into the corner post. Raquel then hit the Tejana Bomb for the win to win her first title in WWE.

The final chapter of the Rollins-Reigns story played, with highlights from WrestleMania 41 and The Vision betrayal.

Roman-Seth one last time

After about five minutes of ads, entrances and crowd chants, Seth stole Roman’s thunder by shouting his catchphrase. Roman said that’s how you ruin a good thing, and LA knows he’s an asshole. Seth admitted he’s the bad guy, and that’s fine with him because that’s how he gets his. He noted that some people get everything they want or are born on third base, unlike him, who had to fight to survive. Seth put over Roman with a bunch of accolades, but he noted that there is one thing that Roman isn’t better than Seth at, and it’s professional wrestling. Seth told Roman he owns him in the ring, and he also owns him in his mind. Seth asked Roman what would change at SummerSlam. He called back to the DQ finish at Royal Rumble 2022 and wondered if he’d call The Bloodline to help him out. He added that Roman doesn’t stand a chance.

Roman tells Seth that he doesn’t understand: He’s the only real superstar, the only true champion. He needs to beat Seth, and he needs his family to see him beat Seth. The whole industry needs Roman to beat Seth. After a pause, Seth called back to when Roman said he needed his family to see the match, and he brought up his cash-in at WrestleMania 31, where he sent Roman’s family home in tears. He hoped Roman’s family would be at SummerSlam because he’d love nothing more than to see them cry again when they find out their dad is a fraud, a loser and will forever be Seth Rollins’ bitch. Roman started to beat up Rollins and laid him out with a Superman punch, followed up by a spear. Roman then grabbed a chair, but Seth caught him with a curb stomp on the chair. Seth stood tall, telling Roman that he owned him.
