Tommaso Ciampa defeated Andrade El Idolo to win the AEW National Championship in the main event of Saturday’s Collision.
The November 7 episode aired live aboard the Norwegian Jewel in Miami, Florida, as part of Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea. Ciampa’s victory came in a WrestleDream rematch after Andrade had retained against him three weeks earlier.
The closing stages included referee Aubrey Edwards being knocked down when Andrade avoided a charging Ciampa. Andrade subsequently hit The DM, but Edwards was unable to make the count.
Ciampa capitalized by hitting a low blow and running knee, although Andrade kicked out when Edwards recovered. The champion responded with several near falls of his own as rain began falling more heavily on the outdoor ring.
Andrade later attempted another DM, but Ciampa countered and caught him in a pinning combination for the three-count.
Ciampa celebrated afterward at ringside with his wife and daughter, placing the National Championship over his daughter’s shoulder.
Other Developments
Elsewhere, FTR defeated the Motor City Machine Guns after Stokely Hathaway became involved in the finish. The result tied their best-of-five series at 2-2, setting up the deciding match at Full Gear.
The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia & Gabe Kidd also defeated Shane Taylor Promotions before becoming involved in another confrontation with The Cut. Mercedes Moné joined The Cut in attacking the Death Riders, with Jay White finishing Moxley with the Blade Runner.
A later backstage segment showed The Cut standing near a pool of blood, with the group saying Juice Robinson had been taken to hospital after retaliation by the Death Riders.
