In his first one-on-one loss since Wrestlemania 40 in April 2024, Roman Reigns took a pinfall defeat against Bronson Reed to open Saturday’s Crown Jewel Premium Live Event (PLE) from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
An “Australian Street Fight” between the Monday Night Raw rivals devolved into a three-on-two brawl after Bron Breakker and The Usos got involved during the late minutes of the match.
Breakker was the first to intervene during the no disqualification match, hopping the barricade at ringside to take out Reigns mid-sprint with a spear. Moments later, The Usos attempted to hit the ring to give “The OTC” an advantage.
After Jimmy Uso was speared through a barricade by Breakker at ringside, a misdirection spot in the ring from Reed caused Jey Uso to accidentally put Reigns through a table with a spear. This then led to a top-rope Tsunami from Reed for the pinfall victory in 21 minutes.
Struggles during the match caused a post-match argument between The Usos and Reigns, causing them each to leave the ring separately. Reigns mentioned that the world believes he can’t do anything by himself and that he didn’t want The Usos to get involved in his match.
The early minutes of the match saw a fair amount of weaponry used, living up to the bout’s street fight stipulation. Reigns took a trash can to Reed as they brawled through the crowd. He later also got hold of a cricket bat and a kendo stick.
The first table spot took place at ringside, as Breakker helped Reed score a powerbomb on the commentary team’s desk.
Prior to Saturday, Reigns hadn’t lost a one-on-one match since last year, when he dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania.
Reigns previously picked up a singles win over Reed at Clash in Paris in August, but left the venue on a stretcher due to a post-match attack from The Vision. When Reigns made his return to TV a few weeks later, he made it clear that he hadn’t moved on from his rivalry with the Seth Rollins-led faction.
While the early years of Reed’s career include over 200 matches in Australia, Saturday marked the first time that he wrestled in his home country for WWE. This was also his first-ever singles victory on a WWE PLE.
