Cleared as Tolerated
SmackDown from Salt Lake City kicked off with Tiffany Stratton storming into the ring without her music, demanding Jade Cargill come down to the ring. Nick Aldis appeared and revealed that Stratton is “Cleared as Tolerated,” which meant no physical contact would be allowed before the match tomorrow at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cargill appeared, and Aldis called for security to stop her. Stratton went after Jade, but security stopped her. Stratton rolled back into the ring, held up her title, and that was the end of the segment.

A promo package for Ilya Dragunov aired, and it was announced that there would be a United States Championship Open Challenge next.
R-Truth was handing out candy as Santa Claus, and Motor City Machine Guns asked if he knew it was Halloween. Solo Sikoa appeared and called MCMG bums, saying that the MFTs were next in line for the Tag Team Championships. MCMG said they were next, and a match seemed to be set up for later tonight.

United States Championship Open Challenge
The first match of the night was Ilja Dragunov defending his US title in an Open Challenge. Fraxiom came out first, but Tomasso Ciampa interrupted and the two started arguing about who would get the shot. Dragunov said that Nathan Frazer was first and shooed Ciampa away. After a commercial break, the show returned with Dragunov bleeding from the forehead and Frazer with giant red welts from chops on his chest.

The momentum shifted back and forth with both men awing the crowd. Frazer had a huge near-fall after executing a Phoenix Splash. Frazer then had a scary-looking spot where he seemed to land on his neck. Thankfully, he was able to continue, and Dragunov hit the H-Bomb for the win. This was a very solid match. Tommaso Ciampa then attacked the prone Frazer from behind, and the show quickly went to commercial. Upon return, DIY and Fraxiom were brawling in the back, and Ilja Dragunov helped separate them. Tama Tonga was then revealed to be holding the United States title, and Dragunov ripped it away from him and stormed off.

Kit Wilson vs. Carmelo Hayes
Next up was Pretty Deadly’s Kit Wilson taking on Carmelo Hayes. As expected, The Miz appeared early in the match and threw Hayes into the ring post, but Wilson was only able to get a two count. Hayes then hit The First 48 for the win, but was immediately hit with the Skull-Crushing Finale. Miz screamed that it wasn’t over until he said it’s over.

Backstage, Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair were asked about the attack by The Kabuki Warriors this past Monday, but Alexa shifted her attention to taking on Nia Jax tonight.
Sami Zayn was chatting with Nick Aldis and said he knew he wasn’t cleared, but he begged to be ringside for the MCMG/MFTs match. Aldis said it would make things worse and told Sami to sit this one out. Cody Rhodes appeared and said he was proud of what he did with the US title. Aldis asked Rhodes if he had anything to do with the attack on Jacob Fatu, and Cody said no. Aldis had the contract for his match against Drew McIntyre tomorrow, but Cody said he didn’t need to see it; Drew did.

Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax
The next match was Nia Jax taking on Alexa Bliss. Jax started off the match by jumping Bliss from behind and gaining an early advantage. Bliss mounted a comeback after a commercial break as Charlotte Flair cheered her on from the outside. Jax then shoved Flair and set up for the Annihilator, but Flair jumped onto the apron, distracting Jax and allowing Bliss to score the pinfall.

Backstage, the MFTs ran into Rey Fenix, and he challenged Talla Tonga to a match. Sikoa agreed and set the match for next week. Fenix slapped Talla in the face. Erick Rowan could be seen lurking in the background.

Backstage, Kiana James and Giulia approached Tiffany Stratton, saying that Tiffy Time was just about over. Giulia said Stratton won’t be talking at all after tomorrow. Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre interrupted, and Green demanded a match with Giulia for the United States title. Aldis agreed and made the match for next week. Nikki Cross then appeared behind Green and Fyre, scaring them off.

Throughout the broadcast, an inordinate amount of time was spent on the local college football team and their matchup tomorrow. This also included footage of two mascots having a match earlier in the night. Not kidding.
The MFTs vs. MCMG
Next, JC Mateo and Tama Tonga took on the Motor City Machine Guns. It was noted that a year ago, they debuted on SmackDown and defeated The Tongans for the tag titles (when they were known as The Bloodline). The Machine Guns were in control and set up for the Skull & Bones when Solo Sikoa distracted the referee, allowing Talla Tonga to interfere. Tama Tonga hit the Cut Throat for the win. Afterwards, the MFTs attacked MCMG until Rey Fenix ran down to make the save. That didn’t last long as Talla flattened him. This brought out Shinsuke Nakamura, who was also laid out. The segment ended with the MFTs standing Talla.

Backstage, Nick Aldis asked Drew McIntyre if he had any issues with the contract for his match with Cody. Drew said he didn’t and told Aldis he needed to learn to relax.
Contract Signing
The main event of the evening was the contract signing between WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and challenger Drew McIntyre. McIntyre went to sign but stopped and said he couldn’t because it was lopsided. Drew pointed out that Cody used the title on him a few weeks ago, and he didn’t want to win the match without winning the title if it happened again. McIntyre went to leave, but Cody stopped him and offered a stipulation where if he gets counted out or disqualified, he loses the title.

Drew agreed, and Cody pointed out that Drew got fired, whereas he walked when he was fed up. Drew brought up Cody’s daughters, and Cody lost it, attempting to hit Drew with the title belt. Cody was upset with himself when McIntyre hit him with a Claymore. Drew then powerbombed Cody through the table and posed with the WWE Championship as the show ended.
