Casey Kenney, a bantamweight contender who was cut from the UFC roster after getting arrested last year for an alleged kidnapping of a former partner, has been handed a six-month jail term after accepting a plea deal.
34-year-old Kenney accepted an aggravated assault charge last week in Arizona, per documents obtained by MMA Fighting.
The charges stem from a July 2024 incident, where police say that Kenney assaulted and then kidnapped an ex-girlfriend. A probable cause statement said that Kenney was “repeatedly striking, slapping, biting, headbutting and choking [her] … for several hours.”
Police claim that the victim was kept at Kenney’s residence for 13 hours, where they were “incapable of escaping” and had been told that their mother would be killed if they tried to show up and save them.
Along with his six-month jail sentence, Kenney will serve three years of probation. Due to a separate drug possession charge, he’s also expected to do 100 hours of community service, take a substance abuse program and do two years of probation.
Kenney was released from the UFC roster shortly after the disturbing details surrounding his arrest emerged last year. He had become a non-factor in the 135-pound division in recent years, having not fought since he suffered back-to-back losses against Dominick Cruz and Song Yadong in 2021.
