Referee Dallas Edwards recovering after ‘brain injury’ during live OVW match

A disturbing video has circulated of OVW referee Dallas Edwards suffering a medical event during an ongoing match.

During a ‘Four Corners of Chaos’ match on OVW’s weekly show from the Davis Arena in Louisville, referee Dallas Edwards took a forearm shot off the top rope by one of the performers. Edwards landed on his back and was not moving, and suddenly went into convulsions as the match continued.

The length of time was significant before Edwards was tended to, with one of the performers moving him out of the way to continue the match. The cameras stopped focusing on Edwards when help arrived.

We are not going to link or embed the video out of respect for Edwards.

Reporter Sean Ross Sapp relayed a message that was sent by Edwards’ girlfriend after Thursday’s incident, she described it as a ‘brain injury’:

Please keep Dallas in your thoughts as your day begins. I am not going to provide much more information at this time except to the parties who already know, but last night resulted in a brain injury that is being monitored and will continue to be monitored by doctors here. Seeing all the support you guys have already given is amazing and I didn’t want to leave everyone without some kind of update.

OVW streams its weekly show, ‘Rise’, from the Hotpoint Davis Arena on the Creator Sports Network, and the incident aired for those watching live.

OVW has not issued any statement yet.
