A wrestling match between former UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev and grappler Dillon Danis ended in a brawl at RAF 10 on Saturday.

Former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev had his first freestyle wrestling match in over five years when he faced Dillon Danis in the main event of Saturday’s RAF (Real American Freestyle) card in St. Louis, Missouri.

After a clinch battle, Chimaev took Danis down and scored a pinfall in 0:44 of the opening round. Danis, who had been trying to apply a high wrist guillotine, seemed to hold onto Chimaev’s leg, prompting the UFC fighter to throw a kick as the mat was swarmed with people to create a chaotic scene.

Chimaev was declared the winner after scoring the pinfall and reacted to the brawl when speaking to Red Corner MMA:

What should I think? Stupid guys do stupid things. I accept something like that. He knows he wasn’t my level in wrestling so he felt that and then he tried to sub me. Like do submission, bro. If he did a submission on me, I’m never going to train again.

He’s a weird guy, honestly. You know I try to hold myself but this idiot do stupid things. What should we do?

After the card, RAF CEO Chad Bronstein said he would review the situation and assess if any punishments are handed out. This is the second time a brawl has begun at an RAF event, following an incident in February when Arman Tsarukyan struck Georgio Poullas after their match, and a brawl ensued. It led to a rematch between the two the following month as Tsarukyan continues to compete for RAF.
