AAA Verano De Escándalo Night 1 Results: Dirty Dom abandons El Grande Americano to the Dogs

Dominik Mysterio abandoned El Grande Americano during the main event of AAA Verano de Escándalo, allowing Los Perros del Mal to secure victory.

The AAA Mega Champion then revealed an alliance with Dorian Roldán and Omos, joining them on the entrance stage after leaving his scheduled TripleMania challenger outnumbered.

Elsewhere, La Hiedra and Laredo Kid defeated Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana to win the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship.

Saturday’s episode aired live from Arena San Marcos in Aguascalientes, Mexico, where AAA recorded all three weeks of its Verano de Escándalo event.

Rey Mysterio confronts Dorian Roldán and Omos

AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio opened the broadcast and spoke about his goal of expanding the promotion’s international reach.

Dorian Roldán and Omos interrupted before Rey could make any headway with his planned announcement.

Roldán blamed Rey for El Hijo del Vikingo’s injury, arguing that the general manager had exposed him to unnecessary danger by sending him to WWE SmackDown and NXT. Vikingo recently underwent ACL surgery and vacated the AAA Latin American Championship.

Roldán again insisted that Omos should be awarded the vacant title. He threatened that there would be physical and professional consequences if Rey refused.

Rey said he would not be intimidated and rejected the demand. Omos stepped toward him, but Roldán pulled the seven-footer back before the two left the ring.

Dominik promises to protect TripleMania match

Backstage, El Grande Americano questioned whether Mysterio would support him during their scheduled tag match.The two are due to meet for Mysterio’s AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania 34.

Mysterio said their match had the potential to become the biggest in company history and claimed he intended to protect it.

After Mysterio left, Damián 666 appeared wearing a Perros del Mal shirt. The 65-year-old was part of the original Perros del Mal group and previously held the AAA World Trios Championship.

Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana vs. La Hiedra & Laredo Kid

Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana defended the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship against La Hiedra and Laredo Kid.

Laredo Kid showed a hostile attitude toward Iguana during the opening exchanges, shoving and slapping the champion before the match settled into a series of reversals.

Iguana hit with a springboard headbutt and crucifix driver. Kid answered with a Michinoku Driver and 450 splash, but could not secure the pin.

Vice later hit La Hiedra with a superkick before Kid broke up the count. He then sent Iguana into the steps, allowing La Hiedra to plant Vice face-first for the pinfall victory.

Rey Mysterio announces Penta’s return

Rey held a media conference after the championship match and said Penta would return to AAA on August 15.

He indicated that Penta’s appearance would be connected to Perros del Mal, whose current members include Daga, Bronco Nima, Karmen Petrovic, Angel and Berto.

Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano vs. Daga & Angel

Daga revealed Angel as his mystery partner for the main event against Mysterio and Americano.

The uneasy partners initially worked together, with Americano assisting Mysterio in completing the Three Amigos on Daga. Americano followed with a superplex, and Mysterio landed a frog splash before Angel broke up the pin.

The referee was knocked outside later in the match. Mysterio hit Daga with a 619, and Americano followed with a diving headbutt, but there was no official available to count.

Bronco Nima and Berto then ran to ringside. Nima drove Mysterio into the ring post before Los Americanos arrived with kendo sticks to even the numbers.

Bravo Americano climbed part of the lighting structure and launched himself onto members of Perros del Mal. Karmen Petrovic also appeared as Nima chokeslammed Los Americanos through the commentary table.

Americano continued fighting inside the ring and survived a high knee, sit-out powerbomb and a combination attack from Daga and Angel.

Mysterio eventually returned to the apron and called for a tag. When Americano crawled toward him, the Mega Champion stepped down and began walking toward the entrance.

Daga and Angel took advantage of the two-on-one situation. Daga landed a diving double stomp and pinned Americano.

Mysterio joins Roldán and Omos

Mysterio stopped on the stage after abandoning his partner.

Omos and Roldán emerged and stood beside him. Mysterio shook hands with both men, confirming their new alliance as Americano remained in the ring following the Perros del Mal attack.
