Lil Yachty confirmed he is under a WWE contract.
The rapper began work with WWE as Trick Williams’ manager this year and has made frequent television appearances. He competed in his first match at Sunday Night’s Main Event against Baron Corbin and aims to be with WWE for as long as possible.
Yachty opened up about being offered a contract before WrestleMania 42 when he appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. He noted that he spoke with Neil Lawi, the longtime head of music in WWE, before eventually meeting Bruce Prichard.
WrestleMania came, and Bruce Prichard sat me down. The f-cking GOAT. I feel like this is really a dream for me because all of these guys are absolute legends. Bruce sat me down in rehersals. First I thought I was in trouble. He pulled me aside, and he was like, “Man, you’re here more than I am. What the hell, man? What would you say you come on down and be with the family?” I was like, “What?” I couldn’t believe it, and he offered me a contract. I was shocked. I was like, I actually did it. Obviously, the goal you set, to achieve the goal is the goal. When he offered me a contract, I was like, wow, this is f-cking awesome.
Yachty said that he knew that the internet wrestling community doesn’t often welcome celebrities with open arms, so he pitched to appear on SmackDown weeks before WrestleMania 42 to explain why he was there. He told Van Vliet about how his friendship with Williams has grown, and he gave an update on how he was feeling after his SNME match.

Yachty admitted that his kneecaps hurt the most, and that when he woke up, it felt like his shoulder had dislocated. And he also admitted that he couldn’t tighten his hand. He noted that the clothesline hurt the most.
When he first did, I thought I wasn’t going to be able to finish. I could not breathe at all; that was not selling. I think that was a receipt for me hitting him with that microphone. I don’t know, felt like it. It hurt so bad, bro. It felt like, “oh my god,” and then, when he threw me into the barricade, that sh-t really hurt, too.
Yachty later admitted that he still has a lot of matches in him, and he teased a potential program with Williams.
The 29-year-old’s discussion about the IWC continued later in the interview when he said that the IWC was filled with “miserable people,” who “hate life” or “just hate fun.” That was further elaborated on when reflecting on the infamous Gingerbread Man segment.
It was so silly. It was so silly. I mean, again, people forget it’s entertainment, and it’s supposed to be funny. It’s supposed to be fun, and yeah, it’s good wrestling, but it’s entertainment and fun and have fun, man. Don’t be so uptight. Sometimes I be thinking it’s like, damn, you just want a card full of five-star matches.
