NXT has added a number one contender’s match for this Wednesday’s episode that will set up the NXT Championship match at New Year’s Evil.

This Wednesday, Kyle O’Reilly will face Pete Dunne, and the winner will challenge NXT champion Finn Balor on Wednesday, January 6th on the ‘New Year’s Evil’ edition of NXT to kick off 2021 for the brand.

O’Reilly previously challenged Balor at NXT TakeOver: 31 in October in one of the most physical matches inside a WWE ring of recent memory.

O’Reilly and Dunne kicked off last Sunday’s War Games match with an excellent five minute period and thus, setting expectations high for this Wednesday’s match at the Capitol Wrestling Center.

On Saturday, they also announced a singles match between Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm for Wednesday’s program.

This week’s show will also feature Karrion Kross returning to action for his first match since August.
