NJPW introduces World Television Championship, tournament to crown first champion

New Japan Pro Wrestling introduced its newest championship during Monday’s Declaration of Power card.

During intermission, the NJPW World Television Championship was revealed during a presentation involving company president Takami Ohbari.

The matches will be limited to 15-minute time limits and air free on New Japan World and their social media channels with a focus on younger talents.

It was noted that a tournament will decide the inaugural champion. Chris Charlton stated on the broadcast that the semi-finals will take place at ‘Battle Autumn’ on November 5th and the first champion will be crowned at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, 2023.
