WWE NXT notes: Carmelo accuses Ilja of attacking him & Trick, Breakout tourney, Cora Jade, Dragon Lee

To start off the 12/12 NXT on USA Network, while Trick Williams was doing an interview outside of the Performance Center, Carmelo Hayes walked into the P.C. and claimed he was attacked. Hayes was cleared by a doctor to compete in the United States Title tournament on SmackDown. Later in the show, Hayes joined in on a segment between Williams and NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov ahead of their championship match at New Year’s Evil. Hayes accused Dragunov of being behind his and Williams’ attacks. Hayes stated that Dragunov does not deserve the title and tried to pull it away and ended up hitting Williams in the face.

There was a tag match that saw Cora Jade and Blair Davenport taking on Nikkita Lyons and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria. Jade pinned Valkyria. Valkyria is scheduled to put her title on the line against Davenport at New Year’s Evil.

The men’s Breakout tournament began and Oba Femi defeated Myles Borne along with Riley Osborne besting Keanu Carver to advance out of the first round. On 12/19, the first round will wrap up as Lexis King takes on Dion Lennox and on the opposite side of the bracket, Tavion Heights is facing Luca Crusifino.

Newly crowned North American Champion Dragon Lee successfully defended his title in an open challenge against Tyler Bate. Lee is putting the title on the line on 12/19 against either Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp, Charlie Dempsey or Myles Borne.

The trio of Josh Briggs, Brooks Jenson and Fallon Henley defeated Meta-Four’s Lash Legend, Oro Mensah and Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar. Briggs pinned Dar to secure the win.

Added to the 12/19 lineup are the following bouts:

  • Hank Walker & Tank Ledger vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)
  • Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne vs. Kiana James & Izzi Dame
  • Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley
