Punk chats main eventing WrestleMania and Paul Heyman’s actions.
The main event of WWE WrestleMania 41 night one was CM Punk versus Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat. The conclusion of that bout saw Heyman betray Punk and Reigns to align with Seth Rollins who would leave WrestleMania victorious.
That was discussed by Punk on the WrestleMania 41 night two post-show with Daniel Cormier. Punk’s entrance was brought up and the video package that played beforehand which had ‘This Fire Burns’ playing over it. Punk shared that he had to step away from Gorilla Position because it made him emotional to watch. He went on to state that he main evented his first WrestleMania, but not his last.
Dude, I was a crying baby. Literally, the whole day. I had to run out of Gorilla when they started playing the video package and I saw 26-year-old me…
I am nothing without the fans. Again, the equity. The years I put into this, my time away, fighting in the UFC, doing all these other things and then coming back feeling, man, I’m home and now I’m ready for the crown, I’m ready for that responsibility to main event my first WrestleMania and when I say that, I say it’s my first because it’s the first one. It’s not the last.
Circling back to Paul Heyman’s actions, Punk addressed that and teased an appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania where he may say more.
Listen, I got a lot of thoughts, I got a lot of feelings and you best believe I’m gonna make everybody tune into Monday Night Raw on Netflix tomorrow night to find out if I have anything to say. When I’m gonna say it, it’s gonna be tomorrow night. But, listen, Paul Heyman, I knew who he was just like he knows who I am. We’ve been friends for a very, very long time. He’s done this to me before. Threw a ladder into my head and I got 13 staples in my head because of it so he knows what’s coming. He knows. He made his decision just like I made my decision to bet on, again, ‘Maybe, hey, let’s try to do this’ because to me, me main eventing WrestleMania was important to me and I needed to share it with somebody who got me there, somebody who never gave up on me. But now he’s turned on me.
