Alberto El Patron will have a chance to get back the AAA Mega Championship this weekend in Monterrey, Mexico.
He’s set to face off against current champ El Hijo del Vikingo this Sunday as part of AAA Triplemania Regia 2025 at Arena Monterrey, the promotion announced this week.

Former WWE wrestler El Patron saw his 287-day reign as champ come to an end late last month when Vikingo beat him in a 17-minute match in Mexico City. The title change meant that Vikingo could bring the championship to the AAA x WWE Worlds Collide card last weekend and put it on the line in a main event matchup against Chad Gable.
After successfully defending the belt in a 22-minute match that was one of the highlights of last weekend’s shows for many, Vikingo will try to get past El Patron for a second time to keep his reign alive.
Vikingo notably had an 833-day run with the title from 2021 to 2024, a campaign which only came to an end due to injury.
This weekend is a trilogy between the two. Prior to Vikingo’s title win in May, Patron previously overcame him back in March at Rey De Reyes, defending his title successfully in that instance.
An updated look at this weekend’s Triplemania card includes appearances from TNA talents Joe Hendry, Moose, and the Nemeth brothers. Here’s how the show lineup looks now:
