Legendary announcer Jim Ross has signed a new one-year contract to remain with All Elite Wrestling.

The deal will continue to feature a reduced schedule that will primarily see Ross call major matches on the company’s pay-per-view events.

Ross confirmed the agreement on his “Grilling JR” podcast, stating that the new contract runs until August 2026. He expressed his satisfaction with the lighter schedule, noting that having fewer dates was a desirable part of the deal.

The 73-year-old explained that he and AEW President Tony Khan finalized the agreement after extensive talks in London this past weekend. According to Ross, Khan outlined his future plans for the announcer, leaving him feeling that he is still “figured in very strongly” within the company.

The new contract comes after Ross has continued to navigate significant health challenges including recent successful surgery to treat colon cancer.

During the podcast, Ross also addressed online speculation about a potential return to WWE. He confirmed that he has not spoken with his former employer and has no plans to go back. Ross clarified that this was not due to any “animosity or anger,” but that he is happy with his current work-life balance.

Ultimately, Ross said he enjoys the freedom his AEW schedule provides and values the relationships he has built with the younger talent. He has been with the promotion since its inaugural year in 2019.
