Angle had the opportunity to compete for WWE through 2019 into 2020.

WrestleMania 35 in 2019 was the last time that Kurt Angle wrestled in a sanctioned match. He was defeated by Baron Corbin and the night after WrestleMania, Angle was ambushed by the debuting Lars Sullivan.

Kurt did have the opportunity to continue wrestling past WrestleMania 35. Angle recorded an episode of Talk Is Jericho while on the latest Chris Jericho cruise and said Vince McMahon told him if he wrestled for another year, he could make that big sendoff match happen for him. Angle was set on retiring in 2019 and felt that had he stayed, the company would have used to him so that other talents could get wins over him the whole time.

Well Vince [McMahon] said, ‘Well Kurt, you can do that next year.’ I was like, ‘Vince, I’m retiring this year.’ He said, ‘Well if you wait another year, I could do that for you.’ I said, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it this year’ because there was no way in hell I was gonna wrestle another year especially in WWE because all they were gonna do was job me out for the whole year so, I knew — I could see the writing on the wall and I didn’t know if I wanted to be a part of that.

The fourth Chris Jericho cruise is scheduled for March 2022 and currently slated to be on the cruise are Mick Foley, IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James, Nick Aldis, Ariane Andrew, Rocky Romero and more.
