House of Glory “Exodus”

October 29th, 2022

La Boom – Queens, NY

Commentary: JD From NY, Jason Solomon & Dr. Hilary P. Wisdom

This is the first major indie wrestling show at La Boom since EVOLVE 145 from February 2020.

The show started with current HOG Six-Way Cruiserweight Champion Mighty Mante, who just appeared on Thursday night’s NJPW Rumble on 44th Street, who came out on crutches and stated that got injured during that match. Mante called out his scheduled opponent for the night Nolo Kitano to apologize to him for not being able to give him his match and asked him if he would accept to reschedule this match for when he’s cleared to wrestle, which Kitano accepted. As they hugged it out, two masked men came into the ring and helped Kitano beat down Mante.

01: The Mane Event (Jay Lyon & Midas Black) def. Brick City Boyz (Julio Cruz & Victor Chase) by pinfall at 10:32, after they hit The Grand Finale and Black pins Chase.

  • The Mane Event continues its journey to become HOG Tag Team Champions.

02: Detective Evander James def. Encore by disqualification at 9:05, after James tricked the referee into thinking Encore used a chair on him.

  • Officer Joey Silver was seen sitting in the crowd in disguise to cheer on Encore.

03: HOG Heavyweight Championship (vacant): Jacob Fatu def. Carlos ‘La Sombra’ Ramirez by pinfall at 8:37, after hitting a top rope moonsault to become the NEW HOG Heavyweight Champion.

  • Charles Mason came out first originally saying he was going to face Fatu and become a double champion before saying he paid to give his title shot to Ramirez.

They announced that KENTA will be making his House of Glory debut at their December 17th show at the NYC Arena in Queens, NY.

04: HOG Women’s ChampionshipThe Ultra Violette (c) def. Janai Kai by pinfall at 7:05 to retain, after hitting a cutter.

  • As Violette tried to help up Kai, Kai brushed her off and left the ring upset.

05: HOG Crown Jewel Championship: El Phantasmo def. Charles Mason (c) by disqualification at 16:18, as Mason retains.

  • This match was getting really good, with a lot of back-and-forth near falls and the crowd being totally into it, especially for ELP but as ELP was going for a super kick, Mason randomly struck the referee calling the disqualification. The crowd was vocally upset about this but matches ending like this have become a common occurrence whenever HOG uses talent from outside companies, unfortunately. After the match, Mason gave ELP a low blow.

06: HOG Tag Team ChampionshipThe Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe) (c) def. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) by pinfall at 18:19, with Mark Briscoe pinning Fletcher after Jay hit him with the Jay Driller.

  • The Mane Event came into the ring and handed The Briscoes their titles while asking for one more match with them. The Briscoes didn’t flat-out accept but looks like we are leading to this rematch.

07: Shingo Takagi def. Low Ki by pinfall at 18:13, after hitting Last of the Dragon.

  • Takagi embraced Low Ki after the match and then thanked the crowd on the mic. Commentary wondered who KENTA might face off at their next show, with the insinuation that it could be Low Ki

Highly recommend the last two matches, please go out of your way to watch them if possible but Briscoes & Aussie Open was my match of the night and it’s refreshing to see a big-time dream match in HOG end with a clean finish.

Great to see wrestling back at La Boom. Always a fun venue with great aesthetics as it’s a nightclub that usually holds dance events after the wrestling, so tonight it draped in a Day of the Dead look that gave this wrestling show a cool look and feel, hope to return back here myself to watch wrestling again soon as it was one of my favorite venues to attend.
