NJPW Strong has announced two championship matches for its ‘Independence Day’ events at Korakuen Hall in July.

The promotion will hold pay-per-view events on July 4 and July 5 on New Japan World with the first matches confirmed for the shows.

The first night will see IWGP Jr. Heavyweight tag champions Catch 2/2 (TJP & Francesco Akira) defend the titles against Clark Connors & Dan Moloney.

Moloney joined the Bullet Club at NJPW Dominion this past weekend after turning on his United Empire stablemates.

Catch 2/2 regained the titles at Dominion by beating KUSHIDA & Kevin Knight.

On July 5, KENTA will defend the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship against Eddie Kingston.

KENTA regained the title after Resurgence last month by defeating Hikuleo. After the match, Kingston appeared on the screen and issued a challenge to the new champion.

KENTA and Kingston will both be part of the G1 Climax tournament, which begins July 15 and runs until August 12.
