WWE CEO Nick Khan is asked about CM Punk.

As of September 2nd, 2023, Phil Brooks a.k.a. CM Punk was no longer a member of All Elite Wrestling. The company terminated his wrestler and employee agreements and that was followed by a statement from AEW President Tony Khan.

WWE higher-ups were making the media rounds following the UFC-WWE transaction being completed to form TKO Group Holdings. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi caught up with WWE CEO Nick Khan and asked him if WWE would be interested in bringing Punk back. Khan stated the following:

Listen, we only have respect for Phil. We appreciate his run here. We appreciate what he did and tried to do with the UFC. Not many people can actually get in there and do what he did. So, when we have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.

Punk’s time with AEW came to an end following an altercation with Jack ‘Jungle Boy’ Perry before the Real World Championship bout at All In.
