Massive results emerged on both sides of the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament this Wednesday at Korakuen Hall.
The co-main event of the night saw AEW’s Nick Wayne score an upset victory in his second tournament matchup, defeating current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado in a 15-minute battle.
Wayne got the best of a back-and-forth sequence late in the singles bout, hitting his Wayne’s World cutter and then a destroyer for a clean pinfall win.

19-year-old Wayne brought a Korakuen Hall to silence, overcoming the defending tournament winner and current junior champ, who has held the belt since January.
The result marked Desperado’s first singles loss since last July.
In the main event, TMDK’s Kosei Fujita took first place in NJPW’s Best of The Super Junior A Block standings with a statement win on Wednesday.
Fujita scored a win over four-time BOSJ winner Hiromu Takahashi this week, beating him in a 16-minute clash.
Late in his match, Fujita was taking quite the beating from Takahashi. However, he found his way back into the fight by reversing a move from Takahashi into Abandon Hope, a match-ending move from him in some instances.
Fujita was able to rally back in the minutes that followed, getting a near fall with a German suplex before later ending the match with Thrill Ride.

Fujita had previously only faced Takahashi in singles action twice before, losing in both appearances. But Fujita has been on the rise since they previously met back in 2022, being a rising talent in the promotion who entered this tournament shortly after a run with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships alongside Robbie Eagles.
BOSJ will continue on Thursday with a second night at Korakuen Hall, another card where all 20 BOSJ entrants are expected to compete. The main event of the night is expected to be a singles meeting between Hiromu Takahashi and Francesco Akira.
