With his home country supporters behind him, Will Ospreay gained world champ status on Sunday night.
In front of over 40,000 supporters inside Wembley Stadium in London, England, Ospreay started his first-ever run as AEW World Champion by taking down Kenny Omega in the main event of All In 2026.
Following a bloody, physical 34-minute war, Ospreay was able to earn the pinfall win, marking one of the biggest moments of his career thus far.
A large chunk of the match saw Ospreay endure a heavy beatdown from the champ, Omega. Ospreay was given a powerbomb onto a table at ringside, hit with a monitor, and took a snap dragon suplex onto the apron during earlier goings in the match.
After catching Omega coming off the ropes with a Hidden Blade, Ospreay found an opening to get back into the match, making it a much more back-and-forth bout from that point on.
In what was seemingly his best chance of winning the match, Omega scored an always-risky Tiger Driver, then connected with his One Winged Angel finisher. Surprisingly, Ospreay kicked out at two.
Ospreay answered back with a Tiger Driver and One Winged Angel of his own. He hit a Hidden Blade and Storm Breaker, but Omega kicked out at one.
Omega couldn’t take much more after his quick kickout, staying down for the three count after Ospreay put him away with one final Hidden Blade, ending the bout and beginning Ospreay’s first reign with AEW’s top title.
Omega and Ospreay have a long history, first meeting one-on-one at a PWG event in 2015. Their rivalry is best known for a pair of matchups in 2023, battling in lengthy epics as part of that year’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom and AEW Forbidden Door cards.
Omega entered Sunday on his second reign as AEW World Champion. He earned the title on a Beach Break edition of Dynamite last month and had since defended the belt once against Kevin Knight.
Ospreay, gunning for his first-ever world title reign and hoping to do so in front of his home-country supporters in England, earned the world title opportunity by winning this year’s Owen Hart Cup.
Sunday was Ospreay’s second time attempting to capture the AEW world title. He previously fell to Swerve Strickland as part of the 2024 Forbidden Door card.
Earlier in the night: Moné wins women’s title, Okada reclaims Intl. title, ‘New Level’ debuts & more
Mercedes Moné kicked off her long-awaited first reign as AEW Women’s World Champion in the co-main event, beating rival Willow Nightingale. After repeatedly attacking the injured left hand of Nightingale, Moné locked in her Statement Maker submission and put the champ to sleep for the win in 21 minutes.
Darby Allin saw mentor Sting, as well as the legend’s son, Steve Borden, make a cameo en route to his Falls Count Anywhere TNT Championship win against Kevin Knight. After the legend and his son both appeared in the ring for run-ins, Allin closed out his 15-minute showing against Knight with a pair of death-defying dives for the pinfall win.
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage survived their biggest test yet as AEW World Tag Team Champions, beating The Young Bucks. A win for the Bucks would’ve made them the first-ever team to put together four separate reigns with the titles.
Andrade El Idolo secured his first-ever AEW World Championship shot, overcoming 10 other men in a Casino Gauntlet bout. MJF had weakened Nick Wayne with a groin kick and a Heatseeker late in the bout. Capitalizing on this, Andrade knocked MJF out of the ring with a spinning back elbow then scored a pinfall on Wayne to end the match.
Kazuchika Okada kicked off his second run with the AEW International Championship on Sunday, taking down fellow Don Callis Family rival Kyle Fletcher and former Callis Family member Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way battle.
Jon Moxley’s dominant run as AEW Continental Champion continued on Sunday night, winning the first-ever Continental Challenge Cup tournament with a submission win over England’s own Nigel McGuinness. Moxley targeted the injured ankle of McGuinness throughout the match, eventually utilizing a hold on the leg for the tap-out result.
The main card opened with a win from England’s own Brawling Birds, who ended the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship reign of the Divine Dominion. Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter finished off Lena Kross with their Two Birds, One Stone double-team finisher, kicking off their first-ever tag reign in the company.
AEW’s two-hour Buy-In pre-show’s main event, a seven-team “Trios Roulette Royale” (a Royal Rumble match where trios squads entered together), spilled over to the main card. It expectedly featured the AEW debut of ex-WWE vets Kofi and Austin Creed, who will now be wrestling under the name The New Level.
The former New Day members won the AEW World Trios Championships alongside Swerve Strickland, prevailing in a 39-minute match. The result ended a brief run for Hangman Page & Brodido, a trio affectionately known as “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.”
Other headlines from the pre-show included Dr. Britt Baker DMD making her return, costing Maya World her TBS Championship in a match against Persephone. Thekla returned and said she would be watching the women’s world title match later in the night, and TikTok star Big Boom AJ won in eight-man tag action.
