Announcer Josh Mathews made his on-screen debut for All Elite Wrestling on Saturday, appearing on the Zero Hour pre-show at All In: Texas.
Mathews was introduced by Renee Paquette in a live segment, and conducted a pre-taped interview with Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland. The interview focused on their upcoming match against The Young Bucks on the main card.
The appearance is Mathews’ most prominent on-screen role since his tenure as a commentator for TNA/Impact Wrestling.
Mathews first appeared in professional wrestling as a contestant on the first season of WWE’s reality show Tough Enough in 2001. After finishing as a runner-up, he was hired by WWE and served for more than a decade as a backstage interviewer and commentator on shows such as Velocity, Superstars, and NXT.
Following his WWE release in 2014, Mathews signed with TNA in 2015, becoming the lead play-by-play announcer for its flagship Impact! program. He later transitioned to a role as a Senior Producer for the company, which he held after being replaced on commentary by Tom Hannifan in 2022.
