Brie Bella confirmed she will be out three to six months after breaking her scapula.
During the Fatal Influence match between Paige and the Bellas, it looked like Brie injured her shoulder. She was holding onto her shoulder during the match and during the postmatch angle with Paige.
Brie later revealed she suffered a broken scapula (shoulder blade), and she gave more details on the latest episode of The Nikki & Brie Show.
She revealed her scapula broke in three places and confirmed it happened when she took a cannonball against the ring steps. However, she didn’t place blame on anyone and called it a “freak accident.”
Brie also revealed that the referee checked on her and asked if she wanted to call the match, which Brie rejected, admitting she didn’t want to ruin the match for everyone else and didn’t know how she’d power through.
I started to smarten up to it once we could catch our breath, and I finally was starting to say something. The ref kept checking on me because the doctors speak to her and Triple H. Everyone’s speaking to her through her headphone, so they were checking up on me, and they were asking to me to stay out, but I kept coming back in. Now granted, I missed some big moves and we all had to readjust on the fly. I was telling Nikki. I was laying in the hospital that night feeling like I was just the weakest link and made the match look really sloppy for everyone. I think what really did it for me was at the end when I took the spinning X-Factor because I kept taking moves out. I’m like, in my head, because it was so painful, I was like, what am I doing? But I gotta keep going, and the doctors, they were crawling on the ground trying to get to me. I couldn’t even get into the ring properly.
Nikki added that she didn’t realize something was wrong until they couldn’t execute the Hart Attack spot.
Brie later discussed how hard it is to break your scapula and how surgery was rare. She noted that she would need X-rays every two weeks to check on her healing progress and that she would start physical therapy in two weeks.
