Fred Rosser has clarified that his recent work at the WWE Performance Center was as a guest coach rather than in a permanent role.

Rosser, formerly known as Darren Young in WWE, posted on Sunday that he spent the past week observing how NXT operates while also working directly with developmental talent.

This week, I made my rounds as a GUEST COACH, observing, learning, and seeing how things are done.

Rosser added that he had been able to work with several younger wrestlers and outlined his approach to coaching.

My philosophy has always been simple: don’t try to turn everyone into the same performer. Identify their gifts, build their confidence, and help them become the best version of themselves.

His comments clarify the nature of the role after Rosser announced on Saturday that he was back at NXT and working at the Performance Center.

In that post, Rosser said he was “grateful for the opportunity to give back to the next generation” and described himself as being able to learn what WWE currently looks for in its talent.

Rosser spent several years with WWE as Darren Young and was a member of The Nexus before later teaming with Titus O’Neil as The Prime Time Players. He was released by WWE in 2017 and subsequently competed for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he held the STRONG Openweight Championship.
