Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell was arrested early Monday morning for domestic violence, according to TMZ Sports.

The 51-year old was arrested at his home in Hidden Hills, California after officers responded to a domestic disturbance that they determined had turned physical, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.

The ESPN report adds that Liddell is being held at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station with bail set at $20,000 and was booked just prior to 2 a.m. local time. MMA Fighting adds that he is set for a court appearance this Wednesday in Los Angeles.

The former champion retired after a 2010 loss to Rich Franklin but returned to compete in November 2018 where he was stopped by long-time rival Tito Ortiz.

Liddell had been in attendance at UFC 266 two weeks ago in Las Vegas.

After Liddell was released, he issued a statement addressing the story.
