Marufuji states that Ospreay was the only one for the match.

25 years since Naomichi Marufuji’s in-ring debut was celebrated by way of a Pro Wrestling NOAH event at Korakuen Hall. Headlining the show was a singles bout between Marufuji and IWGP U.S. (U.K.) Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.

In the end, it was Ospreay emerging victorious and the two talents embraced afterwards.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s FanNation section to spoke to Marufuji and he told the outlet that Ospreay was the only person for the match. He went on to call Ospreay the perfection of modern wrestling.

(Will) Ospreay was the only one for this match (Marufuji’s 25th Anniversary). I think he is the perfection of modern wrestling.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Marufuji mentioned that if there is an offer, he would like to return to the USA.

If there is an offer (to go to the USA), I would like to go. I think it is a way to increase the overall fanbase, and I want to do something that will lead to the future by giving young people of today a lot of experience outside Japan.

Next up on the docket for Pro Wrestling NOAH is their 9/24 event in Nagoya which will feature five championship matches.

Ospreay will be in action on 9/24 at NJPW Destruction in Kobe. He is defending his championship against Yota Tsuji.
