The nature of Rey Mysterio’s injury.

As a result of an injury suffered on Friday Night SmackDown, Rey Mysterio was not medically cleared to compete against El Grande Americano on night one of WrestleMania 41. Filling in for Mysterio in the bout was Rey Fenix.

The injury occurred during a six-man tag that featured Mysterio, Dragon Lee and Fenix versus American Made (Chad Gable, Julius Creed & Brutus Creed). Julius grabbed Mysterio by his leg and yanked him out of the ring. Mysterio did not return to the match and was being checked on by the ringside medical staff.

Mysterio confirmed the nature of his injury while appearing on a Fanatics Live signing. He stated that he suffered a torn groin.

Man, I wish WrestleMania would have been funner for me. It was unfortunate that I suffered a torn groin on Friday night at SmackDown and I wasn’t able to perform last night. But, live to fight another day, right?

El Grande Americano picked up the win over Fenix and handed him his first singles loss in WWE. After the bout, Fenix was helped to his feet by former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo.

On the WrestleMania night one Countdown show, it was revealed that WWE acquired Lucha Libre AAA.
