Netflix is expected to roll out a documentary on UFC president Dana White in early 2027, according to a report.
Page Six reports that the streamer greenlit a documentary focusing on White while Netflix was in negotiations for its domestic streaming rights. Netflix did not secure the deal, which was landed by Paramount, but the doc continued and is now expected for a first-quarter release next year.
It states the project was greenlit by former chief content officer Bela Bejaria, who was part of recent cuts at the streamer and was replaced by Peter Rice.
Gotham Chopra is the reported director, who founded Religion of Sports alongside Michael Strahan and Tom Brady. He has worked on various projects with Brady, LeBron James, Wiz Khalifa, Stephen Curry, Simone Biles, and Jon Bon Jovi.
Last week, Brandon Thurston successfully had a portion of WWE’s memorandum of understanding with Netflix unredacted. It revealed that Netflix had a “right of first negotiation for UFC domestic rights” last year, as they were in negotiations. UFC would secure a seven-year rights agreement with Paramount worth $7.7 billion over the term.
