A little extra spice has been added to the upcoming AEW World Championship clash between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe.
When Joe and Moxley meet on a May 14 special “Beach Break” edition of AEW Dynamite, it won’t just be a normal singles bout. Instead, their title clash will take place inside a steel cage.
The steel cage stipulation was added this week per request from Joe, who pointed out how frequently Moxley leans on his fellow Death Riders allies for support during matches.
Joe called for the rule on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite after The Opps caused the Death Riders to retreat.
Samoa Joe just raised the stakes for Beach Break! He wants AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in a STEEL CAGE!

“Jon Moxley likes to come out here and act like he’s a boss, Joe said. “But it seems like when we start throwing hands, he acts like a little b****. Now Mox, you came out here weeks ago and you begged for me. You said you wanted me one-on-one. And all I’m trying to do is give you what you want. But unfortunately, it seems like you don’t really want that. But Jon, you’ve already made your request. And I say, let’s give you and the people what they want, and it’s very simple. If I’m gonna fight you for the AEW World Championship, Mox, you cowardly son of a b****, let’s do it inside the steel cage.”
Joe will become a two-time AEW champ if successful in the upcoming meeting. For Moxley, a victory would mark his seventh successful title appearance since capturing the belt back in October.
No other matches have been announced for Beach Break thus far, which is expected for the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
